A piece of heritage, culture and identity.

Singapore is a multi racial country, home to a diversity of cultures, ethnicities and religions.

For ethnic Chinese, our most distinctive Chinese outfit is the Qipao, or cheongsams.

When compared with our fellow asian counterparts, such as Japanese in their Kimono, Indians in their Sari or Malays in Baju Kurung, it is, however, not worn as often and as integrated into our lives.

But in the recent years, this cultural and historically rich piece of outfit has started to gain more popularity, with more choosing to wear them for festive occasions like Chinese New year and weddings.

An idea come from these and if we could go one step further to adopting key elements from the outfit and integrate it into our own accessories as well,  where it could be worn more frequently, it will certainly helps in preserving its art form in a long run.

The Chinese knot button or pankou 盘扣 is therefore chosen for its distinctive feature of traditional Chinese apparel.

Instantly recognisable on its own, the pankou 盘扣 is an iconic piece of Chinese traditional garment with a long history, and is an art form in itself.

Though normally associated with tradition, the knot buttons are also enjoying renewed popularity, so exploring its potential in jewellery has been a fun inspiration for this collection.

With our approach to embrace and working around its beautiful details, fusing in seamlessly with our aesthetics, we hoped it encourages its wearer of any race and ethnicity appreciation and understanding of these traditional knots/braid works, enjoy its versatility in accessorising, while absolutely looking fabulous in them!
