IRIDESCENCE " TOXIC " BEAUTY

Inspired by the oil spill’s iridescence sheen and thick black glossy texture, it is translated into jewellery pieces with the concept of a dark irony of luxury “toxic” wore on body.

The increasing conspicious consuming pattern of our generation, the negligence and ignorance, contributed significantly to pollutions, creating a vicious cycle

“Today we have this economic structure that keep taking away material resources, like using and polluting relentlessly in its bid to cater and even stimulate further consumption in us”

Tim Jackson’s TED talk on “Economics of Climate Change

By also incorporating the colours of Daniel Beltra’s unique perspective aeriel shots of 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, which gave emphasize that our resources are not infinite, with the effects of oil spills and the problems of the society, mind-sets of people of my generation through my pieces, I hope people will have deeper understanding for the precarious balance we are imposing on our environment.
